Abstract: Metal-poor galaxies are the key to understanding star formation in a nearly pristine interstellar medium, and may provide a template for understanding the formation of the first stars. Extremely metal-poor galaxies are extremely rare; among the 1,000,000 spectra released by Sloan, 19 have log(O/H)+12 < 7.65. We have devised an efficient technique to find new extremely metal poor galaxies, and discuss the scientific questions a student might address with a statistical sample of these objects.
