AFOE observations of 51 Pegasi

Precise radial velocity measurements of the star 51 Pegasi (HR 8729, HD 217014) with the AFOE (Advanced Fiber Optic Echelle Spectrometer). These includes 38 observations from July, 1995, through November, 1997.

This variation in radial velocity, first detected by M. Mayor and D. Queloz, is interpreted as the indication of the presence of a planet-size object (minimum 0.5 Mjupiter) at a distance of about 0.05 AU from the star (see Nature, 1995, vol 273, p. 355).
