IMPORTANT INFORMATION: * Presentations * Registration * Internet access * Local information * CfA logo sale 1. PRESENTATIONS a. ABSTRACT BOOK An electronic version of the abstract book is available at the conference web site (under "Abstracts"). A hard copy of the abstract books with generous note-space will be provided at registration. b. ORAL PRESENTATION The schedule of oral presentations is available at the conference web site (under "Scientific Sessions"). The invited talks are 30 mins long (up to 25 mins for talk plus 5 mins questions). The contributed talks are 15 mins (up to 12 mins for talk plus 3 mins questions). We will provide two laptop computers (PC and MAC) equipped with PowerPoint and Acroread. An overhead projector will also be available if requested beforehand. All talks must be loaded onto the common-use laptops the day before the talk is scheduled (or the morning of the first day, for those speaking on Day 1). WE WILL NOT ALLOW THE USE OF YOUR OWN PERSONAL COMPUTERS FOR PRESENTATIONS. You may bring your talk on a USB flash drive or CD to the meeting. You may also upload your talk via anonymous ftp prior to the meeting (please also notify Mark Gurwell via email mgurwell@cfa.harvard.edu if you do so): ftp cfa-ftp.harvard.edu (login as "anonymous") cd incomingonly/smast05/ put (filename) **please use an easily identifiable filename! Recommended structure is lastname.format or lastname_keyword.format** Please do NOT email your talk; email at the CfA has strict size limitations for attachments and your email may not get through. c. POSTERS Poster sessions are held in the Eliot-Lyman Room and Conroy Commons in the Longfellow Hall. Posters are up from the Morning of June 13 to Noon June 16. Poster boards can mount standard-size posters [4 ft H x 3 ft W (120 cm x 90 cm) or 3 ft H x 4 ft W (90 cm x 120 cm)]. We will provide the poster location and thumbtacks upon registration. We will organize a poster contest. Each of the top three posters will receive a prize. Details for the contest will be announced during the conference. 2: REGISTRATION The conference packages are handed out during the registration: 8:00AM - 9:00AM June 13 (MONDAY) 1st Floor Lobby Longfellow Hall, 13 Appian Way For those who ordered the Red Sox tickets, the pickup time is from 8:30AM - 9:00AM, June 14 (TUESDAY) 1st Floor Lobby Longfellow Hall, 13 Appian Way 3. INTERNET ACCESS Free wireless internet access is available at the Conroy Commons in the Longfellow Hall lower level during the conference. Login information will be provided at registration. There is no access to the internet within the Askwith Lecture Hall. Internet access is also available at Sheraton Commander Hotel and Hotel Tria. Ask the hotel staff for details and the cost of the access. 4. LOCAL INFORMATION a. TRANSPORTATION The best way to get around in the Boston area is via taxi or public transportation. The cost for a taxi from the Boston Logan International Airport to Cambridge is less than $40 USD. For those who use rental cars, please be aware that parking around the Longfellow Hall (13 Appian Way, Cambridge) is difficult to find and very expensive. Harvard Transportation Services are providing a shuttle service each morning during the conference from Hotel Tria to the Longfellow Hall. The pickup times at the Hotel Tria are June 13: 8:00AM June 14-16: 8:15AM This one-time shuttle leaves promptly at the times listed above. There is NO shuttle service in the evening. You may take taxi, or a bus (Bus 74 or 78) from Harvard Square to Fresh Pond Circle and walk to the Hotel (less than 5 mins walk). For those who stay at Sheraton Commander, it is about 5 mins walk (250 meters) to the Longfellow Hall. b. LOCAL MAPS We have linked various maps of the area at the conference web site. They are under "Venue" and "Logistics". Maps of the Harvard Square area will also be provided in the conference materials at registration. 5: CfA LOGO SALE: The CfA Social and Recreational Club will offer a CfA logo sale at 12:00PM - 1:30 PM, June 14, outside of the Askwith Lecture Hall. A variety of Center for Astrophysics memorabilia are available: Caps, Tshirts, sweatshirts, coffee mugs, jackets, beer glasses, etc. Note, ONLY cash and check are accepted as payment, NO credit cards please. 6.
