SOHO-23: Understanding a Peculiar Solar Minimum
SOHO-23 will be held at the Asticou Inn in Northeast Harbor Maine. All science sessions, breaks, lunches, the ESA reception and the Banquet will occur at the
Asticou. In addition, the Asticou Inn is holding 48 rooms/suites that can be reserved on a first come first served basis by making arrangements directly with
the Inn (see contact and web site information below). The Asticou is offering special rates for meeting participants: single/double occupancy rooms at $119 per
night and single/double occupancy suites at $149 per night. It is recommended that reservations be made between 30 April 2009 and 21 July 2009, although it may
still be possible to make reservations after this date depending on availability.
There are three other Inns in Northeast Harbor that are holding blocks of rooms for SOHO-23, and another in Bar Harbor. A shuttle bus service will be provided
between the Asticou Inn and the other Inns (see SOHO-23 Shuttle Bus). The Inns are listed according to their
proximity to the Asticou Inn.
The Harbourside Inn will be open during the time of SOHO-23 and is offering special rates for meeting participants. Rooms can be reserved on a first come first served basis by making arrangements directly with the Inn (see contact and web site information below). The discounted rates range from $100 for king and queen sized bedrooms on the third floor to $225 for a large three room suite. The Harbourside Inn is located within a few minutes walking distance of the Asticou Inn. It is recommended that reservations be made between 30 April 2009 and 21 July 2009, although it may still be possible to make reservations after this date depending on availability.
The Kimball Terrace Inn is holding a block of 38 rooms. They can be reserved on a first come first served basis by making arrangements directly with the Inn
(see contact and web site information below). The Kimball Terrace is offering special rates for meeting participants: 1st and 2nd floor harbor view rooms at
$117, 3d floor harbor view rooms at $130 and 1st and 2nd floor forest view rooms at $110. It is recommended that reservations be made between 30 April 2009
and 21 July 2009, although it may still be possible to make reservations after this date depending on availability.
The Maison Suisse Inn is holding a block of 10 rooms. They can be reserved on a first come first served basis by making arrangements directly with the Inn
(see contact and web site information below). The Maison Suisse is offering special rates for meeting participants: queen size bed rooms at $125, and king
size or two bed rooms at $150. It is recommended that reservations be made between 30 April 2009 and 20 June 2009, although it may still be possible to make
reservations after this date depending on availability.
The Ledgelawn Inn in Bar Harbor is holding a block of 15 rooms. They can be reserved on a first come first served basis by making arrangements directly with
the Inn (see contact and web site information below). The Ledgelawn is offering special rates for meeting participants.
The hold date for the block of rooms has been extended, and the new end date will be posted when it is available.
