SOHO-23: Understanding a Peculiar Solar Minimum
Below is a list of five airports with links to driving directions provided by mapquest.com to the Asticou Inn. The conference organizers can not
guarantee the validity of these directions. All airports listed here have at
least one rental car company providing service. You can find out which companies are available by checking out the airport website also included
in the list.
There are several routes to Northeast Harbor from Boston MA, Portland ME and Manchester NH. All include Route 295. Probably the fastest is the one provided on the link to mapquest.com that involves taking Route 95 to Route 395 etc. Another much more scenic option is to take the exit off Route 295 to US Route 1 near Brunswick ME and follow that up the Maine coast along Penobscot Bay passing through Rockport, Camden and Belfast where Route 1 joins route 3, which can be followed through Ellsworth and onto Mt Desert Island. Another option is to exit route 95 just north of Augusta and follow route 3 to Belfast and then on to Ellsworth and Mt Desert. These optional routes pass through some of the most charming towns and villages of Down East Maine.
