Weather on Mt Desert Island in September

Weather on Mt Desert Island in late September is highly variable. Sometimes there is nearly summer like weather with high temperatures in the seventies on the Fahrenheit scale, but it can also be much more like fall with high temperatures in the fifties or sixties. The average daily high temperature for the seven days starting 21 September ranges from 61 F (16 C) to 72 F (22 C), and the average overnight low ranges from 46 F (8 C) to 57 F (14 C). The highest temperature observed is 79 F (26 C) and the lowest is 37 F (3 C). The average precipitation for the month of September is 4.4 inches. Hence, September visitors to Mt. Desert must be prepared for both extremes in temperature, and for both rain and sunshine.
