Title:
Galaxies and their Supermassive Black Holes:
Lessons from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
Abstract:
High quality spectra from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey have enabled
us to compile and study unprecedentedly large samples of of galaxies with
and without active nuclei. This data is teaching us a great deal
about galaxy formation and the link between galaxy
evolution and black hole growth.
In this talk, I will review some of the main results from
our ongoing program to use this wonderful data set
to understand more about how galaxies came to be.
