Title:Frontier Planets: Wide Separation Giants and Hot Super-Earths
Abstract:Though ~400 planets are currently known, discoveries at the
observational frontiers continue to yield new classes of planets. Several
giants have now been directly imaged, offering the first view of
extrasolar planets at wide separations from their host stars. At the
opposite extremes in mass and separation, super-Earths have been detected
as they transit their stars. I will describe how wide separation giants
inform our theoretical understanding of the formation and evolution of
planetary systems and how upcoming observations of super-Earths can
constrain the atmospheric evolution of hot planets.
