Title: First Results from the Chandra X-ray Observatory - Presented by Harvey Tananbaum on Behalf of the Chandra Team

Abstract: The Chandra X-ray Observatory was launched on July 23, 1999. Chandra is opening a new era of High Resolution Imaging and High Resolution Spectroscopy for x-ray astronomy. An overview of the Observatory's key science elements will be provided. First images and spectra obtained as part of the on-orbit activation and calibration period will be presented and briefly discussed.
