Title:
The Origin of Brown Dwarfs
Abstract:
I review the latest observational constraints on the process of brown dwarf
formation, which include measurements of the initial mass function, binarity,
circumstellar environment (disks, accretion, envelopes), and spatial
distributions at birth of brown dwarfs. These properties are compared to
comparable measurements for stars and to predictions of theories for the
formation of brown dwarfs.
