TITLE: IT Specialist (SysAnal/Appsw), IS-2210, Grade 12; $70,699 to $91,913/yr
TYPE OF POSITION: Trust Fund (non-Federal), Indefinite

LOCATION: Cambridge, Massachusetts
DUTIES:
The purpose of the position is to provide production support and the overall design, development and
integration of core financials and human resources applications. Duties may include but are not limited to: implementing
all aspects of the software development lifecycle: requirements, generation, design code, verification and test, maintenance,
and support; designing software following CF and OCIO software design standards, applicable vendor’s literature, and
established CF practices; designing software subsystems and components; coding and debugging complex programs to
support administrative applications; verifying and testing all generated software and maintain code as part of an overall
system and overseeing these activities within the group; and, obtaining data necessary to define application and system by
working closely with technical and administrative staff.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade
level (11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation that has equipped them with the following knowledge, skills,
and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position: Knowledge of relational database management
systems and database design concepts to ensure applications are consistent with current and planned infrastructure and data
environments; knowledge of and skill in applying principles, methods, and procedures for designing, developing,
optimizing and integrating new and or reusable systems components; knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials and Human
Resources suites; expertise in SQL, SQR, Application Engine, PeopleCode, Crystal and nVision; knowledge of and
experience with Unix operating systems; broad knowledge of the principle programming languages in use in CfA web
applications, including perl, C++, C, Java, Java server pages, and html; knowledge of system software development
lifecycles, including requirements generation, design, code, verification and test, systems integration, maintenance, and
support; knowledge of security issues in a distributed, Internet-connected environment, and ability to develop secure
applications for Unix systems; ability to write concise, readable, user-oriented documentation for software and/or hardware
systems; ability to communicate both orally and in writing; and ability to work effectively and cooperatively with computer
and network users and systems staff. Knowledge of Unix editors and text formatting software and ability to write system
maintenance documentation are essential.
NOTE: Appointment will be subject to the applicant’s successful/satisfactory completion of a pre-appointment
background check and subsequent background investigation, including fingerprinting. New employees are also subject to a
one year probationary period.
