M.P.E.C. 1997-P12 Issued 1997 Aug. 13, 21:13 UT

The Minor Planet Electronic Circulars contain information on unusual
minor planets and routine data on comets. They are published
on behalf of Commission 20 of the International Astronomical Union by the
Minor Planet Center, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory,
                          Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A.

DISTANT MINOR PLANETS (1997 AUG. 30.0 TT)

Ephemerides and orbital elements for the objects listed here
are available on the Minor Planet Center's WWW site at:
http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/cfa/ps/Ephemerides/Distant/index.html

This listing has been slightly modified from earlier listings,
notably by including a reference to the particular MPC issue with a
current ephemeris (the column headed "Ephem."). The column headed
"Orbit" (in both sections of the listing) refers to the MPC containing
the latest orbit elements. Furthermore, rather than giving the
orbital elements themselves, the listing shows the "Type" of object,
the choice currently being "centaur" (orbit essentially contained between
Jupiter and Neptune), "plutino" (essentially transneptunian object in
2:3 resonance with Neptune; like Pluto), "m:n" (essentially transneptunian
object in some other resonance with Neptune; m < n) and "cubewano"
("main Kuiper Belt" object, following the prototype 1992 QB1).
