Topocentric Ephemerides for NEAR Flyby

The form below allow you to generate topocentric ephemerides for the Earth flyby by the NEAR spaceprobe. Please ensure that you read the notes below.

You should specify your position as:

 geographical location:

    Longitude ° ' " E of Greenwich

    Latitude ° ' " Altitude m

 MPC observatory code

Notes

The interval of the ephemeris will be either one hour, ten minutes or two minutes, depending on how close NEAR is to the earth. The coordinates of NEAR were supplied by David Dunham, who requested that the Minor Planet Center provide this special page.

You may specify longitudes W of Greenwich as negative longitudes, or as positive longitudes in the range 180°-360°.

Local circumstances are given only for topocentric sites. If you enter the coordinates of the geocenter, no local circumstances will be displayed. Azimuths are measured from the south, and increase to the west. The predicted magnitudes have been adjusted in line with actual observations.
