The first Edgar Wilson Award for comet discoveries in 1998-1999 was announced in July 1999 (see IAUC 7223); there were then seven recipients, for six different comets. The second Edgar Wilson Award for comet discoveries in 1999-2000 was announced on IAUC 7445, for which there were four recipients, for three different comets. The third Edgar Wilson Award for comet discoveries in 2000-2001 was announced on IAUC 7652), with only two recipients for a single comet. The Edgar Wilson Award for comet discoveries in 2001-2002 went to seven recipients, for five different comets (see IAUC 7926). The Edgar Wilson Award for comet discoveries in 2002-2003 went to five recipients, for three different comets (see IAUC 8162). The Edgar Wilson Award for comet discoveries in 2003-2004 went to two recipients, for two different comets (see IAUC 8372). The Edgar Wilson Award for comet discoveries in 2004-2005 went to two recipients, for two different comets (see IAUC 8554).
