Spitzer Image

A false color image of the massive young star-forming region DR21. It was made by combining infrared light images taken by the space-based Infrared Array Camera (IRAC) with ground-based infrared images. The giant outflow is apparent on the right by its violet color; the young star itself is the bright orange point situated in the midst of fainter stars in the thick dark ridge of dust and gas that is its nursery. The IRAC camera team is led by SAO astronomer Giovanni Fazio.
