Model Shop (MS) Featured Part

About Us
The Model Shop was established to support the machining needs of:
Harvard College Observatory, Harvard University and
The Harvard-Smithsonian Center for AstroPhysics and beyond.
Offering machining services as requested.
Our function is to provide fabricated parts from raw materials as well as modifications to existing parts or assemblies.
The fabricated parts here at the shop include hardware components for ground based units around the world.
Also Flight rated parts with tracability for projects sent into outer space.
At the shop we are capable of many machining operations.
We work to tight tolerances of +/- .0001" in many cases.

Using Reduced instruction drawings, the fabrication ability has taken the shop to a new level.
We are able to import your Solids, Surfaces, Wireframes and in many cases have parts running with in hours.
This technique has reduced the manual entry translation errors of the past.

In the past several years the shop has made the transition to CNC ( Computer Numerically Controlled ) Machinery.
These machines are enabling the shop to fabricate parts in much shorter time frames.
This allows much more flexibility in fabricating assemblies to tight tolerances.
Eliminating drilling and reaming operations for alignment after assembly.
