![]() An optical image of the elliptical galaxy M87, which hosts a massive black hole in its nucleus. A jet of material can be seen being ejected (at the 1 o'clock position). M87 lies in a cluster of galaxies, some of which can also be seen here. New results show that the spin of the supermassive black hole could power the jet.
