Release No. 03-13: Harvard Continues Legacy of Cepheid Discoveries For Release: 10:00 a.m. CDT, May 28, 2003
 | Continuing the Harvard legacy of Cepheid discoveries, astrophysicist Nancy Remage Evans and colleagues have found that some known Cepheid binary systems contain hidden, third companions. In this artist's conception of the Y Carinae system, a swollen yellow Cepheid variable star is orbited by the close binary seen at upper left. Further studies should yield useful insights into how stars form in multiple systems. (David A. Aguilar, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics)
