OIR Laboratory

The OIR Laboratory provides design, development, construction, deployment, and repair/maintenance services in the area of solid-state imaging detectors and their associated electronics for astronomical instrumentation.  Some of the more detailed capabilities are:

  • System-level conceptual design of imaging camera systems
  • Detailed design of camera controller electronics
  • Design and implementation of computer interface hardware and software
  • Detailed design of camera printed circuit boards
  • Assembly, debugging, and rework of camera controller printed circuit boards
  • Stockage of key electronic components for repairs and modification
  • Vacuum and cryogenic design and development for imager systems
  • Mechanical design and fabrication of critical parts for imaging systems
