Predoctoral Research Oversight members are an independent resource for SAO Predoctoral Fellows and visiting students as needed during their tenures at CfA. In particular, they are available on one-to-one basis if necessary.

Although many SAO Predoctoral Fellows have the full support of their thesis advisors at their home universities, we feel that a separate oversight committee is necessary for each predoc at the CfA for the purposes of evaluating their research work. Fellows in the SAO Predoctoral Program will have their research work evaluated annually by their Predoctoral Research Review Committee as well as the Predoctoral Research Oversight Committee.
