| November 10, 2010 Sonification in the Analysis of Astrophysics Data Wanda Diaz-Merced, SAO Predoctoral Fellow Abstract: Sonification is used to convey information using sound. It is a developing field integrating a variety of professional fields: scientists, psychologists, musicologists, etc. What is sonification? How may it be used in the field of astrophysics? In this presentation I will answer those questions, will talk briefly about sonification techniques used to analyze ACE magnetic fluctuation data and FERMI light curves. I will also present our ongoing research and experiments in perception psychology and ongoing development of sonification techniques. Back to schedule |
