The Prize Committee was established by Irwin Shapiro, CfA Director, in 1999, to facilitate nominations of members of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and/or their colleagues, for prizes. The committee's mission is to assist any CfA scientist with prize nominations.
-
The Prize Committee will maintain a web-based list of as many relevant prizes as possible.
- Members of the CfA are encouraged to periodically consult the prize list for ideas on who might be a good nominee for a particular prize.
- Prize nominees and nominators can be based at the CfA or outside.
- The committee will facilitate nominations by contacting outside recommenders suggested by the original nominator, assembling, photocopying and mailing nomination materials, and sending deadline reminders. Any requests for the committee's help must precede the relevant prize's deadline by six weeks.
