Processing ALMA Data

The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) is located on the Chajnantor plain of the Chilean Andes at an altitude of 5000 m. When completed (expected, 2013), it will consist of fifty 12-m antennas and provide configurations with baselines up to 16 km in length. Observing bands spanning the frequency range, 40 - 869 GHz, are planned.

The Common Astronomy Software Applications package (CASA) is being developed to process data from radio telescopes such as ALMA.
