Searching for SMA Data

Viewing SMA Images

We display one page of plots for each source in a calibrated and imaged science track. These plots are meant to provide an overview of the quality and success of the experiment, e.g., was anything detected? Based on plot quality, visitors to the site may then request imaged data (fits format), calibrated data (miriad format), or raw data (correlator output).

Upper left:
LSB spectrum, constructed from all the data.
Upper rightUSB spectrum, constructed from all the data.
Lower left:Pseudo-continuum, i.e., zeroeth moment map, all channels, both sidebands.
Lower left:Channel map at the frequency of peak emission.

Maps extend out to the half power points of the primary beam, employ natural weighting, and have been cleaned down to three times the theoretical rms noise level. Self-calibration has not been attempted.

Raw Data

We maintain a web-based tool that enables a user to search (and request data from) the SMA raw data archive (4/13/2002 - current). The user may search by source name string or by right ascension, declination, and search radius. In addition, the user may refine a search by selecting any combination of: frequency range, PI, minimum acceptable integration time on source, or date range.

Calibrated Data

In addition, we maintain a calibrated data archive (4/1/2008 - current). Principal Investigators (PIs) may request their data by sending an email to aargon@cfa.harvard.edu. Others may request data that is older than 15 months (see "Data Proprietary Period" below).

SMA PI Listings 2006 - 2009

Data Proprietary Period

We currently have a data proprietary period of 15 months. We, therefore, ask that you do not request data taken after August 24, 2008, unless you are the PI on the project in question or you have the PI contact me, saying it's OK to release the data.

To determine if the data is available:
Check the date incorporated into the filename. For example, /data/sma/080824... = August 24, 2008, i.e., yymmdd
