Software Packages for Data Analysis

Astronomical Image Processing System (AIPS) is a software package developed at NRAO in the late 1970s. Its primary purpose is to calibrate and image radio astronomical data from the VLA, VLBA, or VLBI network, but can also be used to image already calibrated SMA data.

Millimeter Interferometer Reduction (MIR) is an IDL based software package, originally developed at Caltech. It has been adapted by CfA staff for the reading and calibration (but not imaging) of SMA data.

Multichannel Image Reconstruction, Image Analysis, and Display (MIRIAD) is a command line based software package, originally developed to handle data from the Hat Creek (BIMA) telescope. It has been adapted by CfA staff for the reading, calibration, and imaging of SMA data.
