subject: Re: MIRIAD SMA error

Sorry to hear that. We have been working on the compatibility issue in the reduction of SMA data in Miriad. Since the limit of manpower here, we have
difficulties to solve all the problems of Miriad data from different paths. I would suggest your users to follow the
instruction posted on the web page from where she downloaded the version 1.5.0: http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/sma/miriad/download/
In particular, check the 2nd entry under "Test and Support" - Data reduction scripts for the basic observing modes
Please choose one of the scripts for the observing mode that is the closest to her data.
If she has further problems, we would be happy to help her out.
          The best,
          Jun-Hui

    Hi
One of our users has reported the following:
"I'm trying to use some MIRIAD scripts that I wrote and successfully used when I was visiting another university last year. However, when I try to load my data into Miriad on hourglass I get the error

    ### Fatal Error [smauvspec]: Incompatible: Input vis must be SMA data output from SMALOD.

    I'm starting Miriad with:

    >source /usr/local/miriad_sma/miriad_start.csh
    >miriad

She says she's seeing the error when
"The problem arises when I try to use files created by the idl2miriad command in MIR."

She's using version 1.5.0 we downloaded from here:

This is being run on a desktop running 64-bit Scientific Linux release 6.6 (Carbon) and IDL 8.4. I'd be grateful if you have any pointers as to what we might be doing wrong.

    Many thanks,
    Bob
