Hi Alice,
Please use the "SMA Bug Report & Idea Form"
(http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/sma/miriad/download/) to propose
your requirements which will help us to organize and document
the software development at SMA. I have a few urgent tasks related
to the new 4GHz band data handling in queue. Otherwise, I
aim at including them in the new smaMiriad release next week if not
this week.

Hi Alice,
Good suggestion. We will consider to add these options
in next version.

Hi,

When will the next release be?

Flexible labeling would be great. Also, would it be possible to have a
true black and white option? As it stands the light colors come out as
light gray and the dark colors as dark gray or black. Sometimes, all that's
wanted is a full spectrum with no indication of what part belongs to which
band. I'm using these spectra on my RTDC website (to show imaged SMA data)
and all I want is true black and white spectra, Amplitude (Jy) vs
Frequency (GHz), with no other writing except the numbers on the axes.

Whatever you could do towards this end would be great.

Thanks,
 Alice

Hi Alice,
We will look into it and will implement smauvspec with
your requirement in next release.
For the 2GHz data, I would suggest to use
source /opt/miriad/miriad_cvs/MIRRC.linux
For the new 4GHz data, it is still under testing.

Jun-Hui,

I can not get the y axis to attach units, even with smauvspec. I get
Frequency (GHz) vs Amplitude. Is there a command that will force axis
labels? Is there another version of miriad I should use, i.e., what are
you sourcing before you start miriad?

This is my command:
 smauvspec vis='080418_091932_g5.89_lsb' device=/xs interval=1E21 axis=freq,amp options=avall

Thanks,
 Alice

I would suggest you to use smauvspec. With device=plot.ps/ps, you
can get black and white plots.

Jun-Hui,

I have a couple of questions about plotting spectra in miriad. I want black
and white, so I'm using uvspec instead of smauvspec. My command is:

uvspec vis='080418_091932_g5.89_lsb' device=/ps interval=1E21 axis=freq,amp options=avall

Two questions:
1) My y-axis says "Amplitude" I want "Amplitude (Jy)". How do I get units?
2) How do I get rid of "XX, t=6241.1 min, T=14:51:18" along the top?

Thanks,
 Alice
