Thanks Holly to pass me the message. There might be an issue for the PGPLOT environment setting
for the new version of Miriad, Miriad SMA-WB5.0.5, conflicting with previous version's environment.
Please logout and login and try it again. If this is the case, thanks to Chris for being the first user to test the
graphic system of Miriad SMA-WB5.0.5.

Other possibilities might be also prevent users from accessing Miriad graphic applications; often users have multiple
Miriad versions distributed from various sources setting in their .cshrc or .bashrc. This was an old issue around at CfA
for many years. To get around the problem, users might need to source one Miriad only and disable all others in
configuring aliases and setting environment variables while their login. If this occurred at users' level,
with logout/login after resetting .cshrc/.bashrc, the issue should be fixed. If the system does not bring users
to the correct PGPLOT graphic environment, there might be an issue at the local system; we might need a
superuser help to shut down and reboot the system; then we may have to call Mac for help. Hope we don't need
to involve Mac this time.

Regards, Jun-Hui

Hi Jun-Hui and Mac,
I'm forwarding this message from Chris Sedgwick (cc-d) who is having problems getting Miriad to work on the Hilo reduction machines.

I know Glen sometimes has problems with the Miriad display too so I wonder if it's a known issue.

Cheers,
Holly

    Hi Holly

The rechunker worked fine, and so did the merge routine.

I have now completed MIR/IDL calibration for one night's data, which seems ok, and run the invert routine with MIRIAD.

I am having a problem in MIRIAD displaying the resulting map. The cgdisp command gives an error message saying that it can't open the display device (I've copied the message below in case it helps). I've tried various options for the device keyword, although I think device=1/xs is probably the correct one.

MIR displayed graphics ok, so I'm puzzled that MIRIAD doesn't. I've been using the -Y option when logging on with SSH. I also tried -X which gave the same result.

Any thoughts about what I should do ?

    Thanks !

    Best wishes
    Chris
