Visions of the Universe
Four Centuries of Discovery
About the Project
From January 2009 through December 2010 libraries across the country have been celebrating the International Year of Astronomy by hosting the "Visions of the Universe" exhibit—a chronicle of astronomy through the ages, from Galileo's initial findings to the latest results of the Hubble Space Telescope. The project is a partnership between the American Library Association, the Space Telescope Science Institute, and the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, with support from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
