UVCS was granted NRT around 16:00 EST. The telescope launch lock was disengaged at 16:09. The "point coarse" command was then used to begin the deploy. However, 45 seconds into execution the stage readout X2 showed an anomalous reading and the command was aborted. Calls to Marriott at Ball were then initiated to get input into the problem. Recommendation was made to switch to the B-side. Control was turned over to Virgo for several hours, while a course of action was decided upon. We decided to go to the B-side. At around 22:00 we were powered off (TSTOL), the space craft re-configured and the B-side turned on. We were then granted NRT. Initial pointing stage readouts were both correct. We ran the Block 1 procedure for B-side, minus the unlocking. We used the "point coarse" command as before. Initial movement looked nominal. The X2 readout then went erratic -- we continued the deploy. It finally settled into a number around 35xx. X1 read normally as did the step counters. We continued the deploy. At X1=2910 the abort command was issued. The movement stopped at X1=2904. The sunsensors showed very roughly balanced signals; the trap temperature began to rise slowly. B-side tables were dumped. NRT was stopped shortly before 02:00 6-December.
