UVCS Instrument Model on Display at Boston's Museum of Science

The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory has loaned a full scale engineering model of its Ultraviolet Coronagraph Spectrometer (UVCS) to the Boston Museum of Science as part of its Sun-Earth Day activities.  The model was used during the development of the UVCS instrument that is currently operating on the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) satellite. The model was installed on March 8 and was on display for Sun-Earth Day (March 20, 2002) where many museum visitors were able to hear talks about space weather and scientific results from UVCS and SOHO.  Educational CD-ROMS, posters, and stickers were also distributed.  The UVCS exhibit will be on display until early April and possibly longer.
