The Viz-e-Lab at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics was founded in 2011, as a place where researchers develop and test new visualization and e-Science approaches in research and education.

At its founding, the lab is used primarily by researchers connected to the Seamless Astronomy, WorldWide Telescope Ambassadors, and Taste-Testing efforts at the CfA.

The group welcomes participation from others interested in exploring new approaches to understanding scientific information.
