1999-	United States Square Kilometer Array (USSKA) Consortium, Harvard Representative	The consortium is working toward securing $1B for the design, development and construction of the next generation radio telescope.
2000-3	National Academy’s Committee on Astronomy & Astrophysics (CAA)	Member. The CAA advises US government agencies (NASA, NSF, DOE) on investing in astronomical research.
2000-	American Astronomical Society (AAS) Committee on Astronomy & Public Policy Member	Advise AAS council on policy statements to be made on behalf of "US Astronomers." Answer questions about astronomy research and public policy from the US media.
2002-3	National Radio Astronomy Observatory, VLA Proposal Review Committee	Serve on standing committee that reviews ~200 proposals/year to use the NRAO’s Very Large Array (VLA).
2002-3	Spitzer Space Telescope (née SIRTF) L-30 Panel	Star & Planet Formation "Expert." The last of NASA’s Great Observatories, the Sptizer Space Telescope, was launched in August 2003. The four-person L-30 Panel briefed the Press in March of 2003 (on NASA TV, see http://www.nasa.gov/home/hqnews/2003/mar/HP_news_n03032.html) on SST-related science.
2003-	Spitzer Science Center Oversight Committee Member	The committee oversees the operations of the Spitzer Science Center (SSC) (located at Caltech), with the aim of optimizing the scientific return from the Spitzer Space Telescope.

1992-	Fellow of Pforzheimer House	Attend Selected House Events. Host COMPLETE lunches at PfoHo. Participate in Senior Common Room.
2000-	Subcommittee on Quantitative Reasoning in the Core	Discuss and deliberate on proposals for new courses to be added to the Core QRR requirement.
2002-	Goldwater Scholarship Selection Committee	Member of 3-person faculty committee to select 3 Goldwater national nominees.
2003	Harvard College Fund Assembly	Offered a workshop for Alumni on "A COMPLETE Search for New Suns"
2003	Radcliffe Institute Advanced Seminar	Co-chaired a workshop on "Star Formation at the Galactic Center" (with Profs. Narayan & Grindlay)
Astronomy Department & Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics
2003-	Department Graduate Admissions Committee (Chair)	Select and recruit new graduate students. The rate of acceptance of our admissions offers in 2003 was 50%, and was 77% in 2004.
2002-3	Department Graduate Curriculum Committee (Chair)	Re-think and re-structure the graduate Astronomy program at Harvard. (This committee’s plan was enacted by the Department in Fall 2003.)
2001-	HCO Council	Deliberate on the spending of Harvard College Observatory (HCO) funds
2000-	Magellan Planning Committee	Discuss instrumentation plans for the new Magellan telescopes.
2002-3	Senior Faculty Search Committee	Search for a Senior Theorist in theory, with interests in star & planet formation.
2003-	CfA Computation Facility Science Advisory Committee (Chair)	Guide the strategy of the IT department of the Center for Astrophysics.
2000-3	CfA Long-Range Plan Committee	Co-author long-range plan for the CfA, with special emphasis on new initiatives.
2002-3	CfA Gender Equity Committee	Investigate the status of women at the CfA.
