The Diffuse ISM & High-Latitude Clouds

Description:
The origin and evolution of unbound gas at high-galactic latitude (e.g. nearby gas) is of interest from both a molecular-cloud physics point-of-view, as well as from the standpoint of galactic dynamics. In one project, after analyzing the position-velocity structure of CO and H I maps of the Ursa Major molecular cloud complex, Marc Pound and I discovered that the whole complex is sliming its way down the back of a large "supershell," toward the Galactic Plane.
