Research

A large fraction of my research has been concerned with nearby early-type galaxies and their globular cluster systems. In particular, I have observationally addressed questions about the formation histories of early-type galaxies, the nature and origin of their central structure, their stellar population content, their kinematics and dark matter distribution, the formation and evolution of their globular cluster systems, their dust content and the nature of their X-ray binary populations. I've been actively involved in the ACS Virgo Cluster Survey and I am the principal investigator of the ACS Fornax Cluster Survey.

I am also interested in Exoplanets, a topic on which I've started working here at the CfA. I've explored the observability of periastra precession in exoplanets and I'm involved in HAT-South, a project that will build a network of southern hemisphere automated telescopes to detect transiting exoplanets.
