Thesis page
This page is a gathering of some matters regarding important and not
so important issues of my thesis. See the links in the menu on the
left-hand side.
If you are looking for my dissertation, have a look at my
publications page.
Pretty pictures
Currently,
it contains links to two images
I made from observations used as the basis for my thesis. These images
are created from intermediate band images (central wavelength ~8150A,
FWHM ~220A) and standard broadband B and R.
These images form partially the basis of my thesis. The images have
been taken as part of the Wide Field Imager Lyman Alpha Search
(WFILAS). For the publications concerning WFILAS, refer to
this page.
Data reduction
Next to the pretty pictures, this page also contains some serious
work. For my thesis I have had to reduce many (> 1000) individual
FORS2 MXU spectra. This had to be done in a correct and consistent
way. The results of this blood, sweat and tears you can find on this
page. If you find any errors, please let me know! If you find it
useful, please let me know too! Just as a reminder, the manual comes
with absolutely *NO WARRANTY*. My email address is
