Fáilte go dtí mo Leathánach Bhaile!
Welcome to my Home Page!
Elaine Winston is ainm
domsa.
Hello there. Well, if you
made it past my native Irish then good on you! I was born and raised in Dublin,
Ireland.
I received my primary
degree from NUI Maynooth: first class double honours degree in Experimental
Physics and Mathematical Physics.
Having spent four years in
the countryside I decided to move back to Dublin, to University College Dublin
(UCD). There I studied chondrule formation processes and the implication of GRB
interaction with the protosolar nebula.
I spent three years in the
CfA on a predoctoral fellowship, working with Tom Megeath, Scott Wolk, and Lori
Allen on the study of disks around young stars in clusters, specifically their
lifetimes and interactions. I
undertook a combined study of the Serpens region in optical, infrared, and –ray
wavelengths to identify and classify the young stellar objects in the region.
This was done using the Spitzer Space Telescope, the Chandra X-ray Observatory,
and the Hectospec (on MMT) and Spex (on IRTF) spectrographs.
