• Packages
  • Starbase

    starbase is a set of filter programs and an ascii table format for UNIX. The the database concepts are outlined in the book Unix Relational Database Management by Manis, Schaffer and Jorgensen. This implimentation has been written at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and contains may extensions for use with scientific and astrophysical data sets.

  • Funtools

    funtools is a set of command line programs and library routines to manipulate FITS tables and images.

  • Plottable a command line plotting tool designed to the used with starbase. Plottable can be downloaded from the starbase pages.

• Utility Libraries
  • fitsy a C library for FITS image IO. Fitsy has been swallowed whole by funtools and is no longer available as a separate library. It is still possible to link against fitsy routines after compiling funtools.

  • Msg: A message passing library source: msg.tar.gz. My ADASS paper msg.ps.

• Single file hacks
  • counter.c Lock and inc a counter.
  • hak.c Hit A Key.
  • itar An interactive tar file extractor.
  • lock.c Lock for shell scripts.
  • page.c Curses page.
  • pea An HTML preprocessor in perl similar to eperl, pee, hpp, htmlpp, wpp, shpp, gtml, pre_html, ppwizard , hitop, cipp, embperl, ht and many others. Its only redeming feature is that it is a short sweet hack.

  • shmcat.c Cat data to/from shared memory.
  • sokcat.c Cat data to/from a socket.
  • teeproc.c Tee output to several processes.
  • watch.c Watch a file, execute a command.

  • unknown My enhancements to a well known trick.
  • msg library and docs The msg library in one tcl file.
  • procargs Automatic proc argument switches.

  • fits A tiny FITS library.
