Shock models
are extremely difficult to run. It is therefore not possible to run shock models
from this website. However, we have made our recent shock grid available here. The wide
range of parameters used for the shock grid should be suitable for most
purposes. Users wishing to run shock models for parameters not covered
by the grid should either download the Mappings
source code, or contact Ralph Sutherland. All users
should become familiar with the papers by Sutherland & Dopita below.
To avoid errors, it is advisable to run new shock models in collaboration with
Ralph Sutherland
and/or Mike Dopita.

Pre-run grids are available for shock models with
a wide range of shock velocities from v=100 to 1000 km/s, and
four metallicities: lmc, smc, solar, twice solar. These models
were run by Ralph Sutherland and Mark Allen and are as yet, unpublished.
Please bear this in mind when using the shock models and treat them
as preliminary grids. The models available include the precursor and shock
emission for all shock velocities (100, 150, 175, 200, 225, 250, 275, 300,
325, 350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600, 650, 700, 800, 900, 1000 km/s). The
spectrum files include four spectra (Fnu vs E) for each velocity:
|
| XXXX0001.sou = shock downstream, through the back |
| XXXX0002.sou = shock upstream, out the front |
| XXXX0003.sou = precursor + shock upstream absorbed through precursor |
XXXX0004.sou = precursor only

Use of these shock grids requires a reference to Allen et al.
(2004, in prep.)
