Solar brightness variations in the past centuries.} Solar variability has been the subject of intensive studies in the past 15 years due to suggestions of possible role of solar forcing in the Earth climate change. Limited time baseline of accurate observations of solar brightness change has hindered the research. By comparing the Sun with a sample of stellar analogs, we were able to expand the time base and to reconstruct the history of solar brightness variations since the Maunder Minimum (ca. A.D. 1660-1710) ( Zhang et al. 1994).
