OMI Bromine Monoxide (BrO) Sample Images

This page shows an animation of BrO total columns from OMI for the period 1 May to 12 November 2006 over North and South poles (the time series will be expanded based on availability of reprocessed BrO columns). The onset of polar spring marks the appearance of bromine explosions on the ice shelf. Blank areas in the center of the image indicate no available measurements due to unvaforable illumination conditions (OMI observers back-scattered solar light).
