Judy Schmidt, an image processing expert and citizen scientist, enhanced this image of IC 5063--a Seyfert galaxy with an active galactic nuclei--from Barth's Prop15444, to reveal deep shadows, or rays, seeming to emanate from the galaxy; in this image, the dark rays can be seen near the top and bottom of the galaxy.
