I have held the position of Chief Engineer of the Structural Analysis & Design Group for over two decades. Over that time, our group has excelled in support of the design, analysis & test of the Chandra X-ray Observatory, The James Webb Space Telescope and numerous other smaller projects here at SAO. We are now actively working on teams who will submit proposals for the 2020 decadal review. Our team focuses on the important aspects of telescope and instrument design that are related to its structural, thermal distortion, optical (so-called STOP) and temporal stability issues. My personal efforts and the efforts of my team have been rewarded by numerous NASA awards as well knowing that we did have a significant positive impact on important issues.
