Radio and Geoastronomy: Technology
receiver lab image The Submillimeter Receiver Lab
The Submillimeter Receiver Lab is dedicated to the development of state-of-the-art low noise receivers for submillimeter wavelengths. Superconducting devices, including SIS tunnel junction mixers and Hot Electron Bolometer mixers, have been developed to achieve sensitivities that approach the quantum limit. The laboratory is currently engaged in supporting the operation of the Submillimeter Array between 200 and 700 GHz, and the operation of the Receiver Lab Telescope between 800 and 1500 GHz.
