Parallelized Data Reduction on the Hydra Cluster

The Hydra Cluster
SAO has access to a Linux based Beowulf cluster, called Hydra. The cluster is located in Herndon, VA and consists of over 3000 compute cores (CPUs) and uses a Sun Grid Engine queuing system. 200 TB of public disk space is available for users.

Cluster Access

You will need to request an account through CF directly (if you are an SAO employee) or have your supervisor request one on your behalf.

Follow this link for full details on the CF web pages.

CASA on Hydra v RTDC

CASA is currently being tested on Hydra to see what performance can be achieved. Since version 4.4, CASA has incorporated the MPI (message passing interface) framework to allow parallel programming. You will find the executable mpicasa, along with casa, in the release directory.
