MOSART: Misconception Oriented standards-based Assessment Resource for Teachers

Project MOSART was a five-year NSF MSP research, Evaluation and Technical Assistance (RETA) project that served to enhance the quality of the K-12 science teacher workforce and aided in generating evidence-based outcomes of learning through the development of comprehensive subject matter assessment tools covering the K-12 content in the physical sciences, astronomy/space science and earth science. The intellectual merit of the project was in developing comprehensive assessment instruments that function as diagnostic tools to identify teachers’ strengths and weaknesses across grade levels. The availability of these tools serves teacher preparation and enhancement programs by allowing for planning to strengthen specific subject matter areas and measurement of program effectiveness through pre- and post-testing. Visit the MOSART "self service" site to register for free access to and use of the MOSART tests.
