The antenna computers for the SMA will ultimately be Power PC VME controllers. However, we will definitely still be using VXI controllers during the initial test observations on Mauna Kea. Since these machines tend to fail in some fashion on the timescale of a few months, we will likely have to replace one of them in the field. To ease this process, this document contains relevant information gleaned over many hours of frustrating trial-and-error work by many of us in the lab and at Haystack.
