MIRIAD-SWARM Software for Users Outside CfA

We are working on the system of duplication and distribution for the Miriad-SWARM software for SMA data reduction and imaging to support the next generation of the SMA backend equiped with a new SWARM correlator. We are in the transition phase from the legacy ASIC correlator to the SWARM correlator. Before the new software distribution system to be established and stabilized, we recommend users who are not able to access CfA computer systems to follow the guideline below for the reduction of SMA SWARM data or ASIC data in new format using the SMA Miriad software that has been distributed globally:

  • IDENTIFY SMA DATA SET -
    • e.g. 150519_09:50:17 (for ASIC+SWARM hybrid configuration)
    • e.g. 170717_09:31:42 (for Dual RX SWARM configuration)
  • PRE-PROCESSING SCRIPT -
  • REQUEST FOR HELP -
    • Send a request to RTDC or smamiriad@cfa.harvard.edu
with the file-name of your data (e.g. 150519_09:50:17) for pre-processing the data with above script; and they will send back users a link for downloading the Miriad-formatted data files output from this pre-processing, e.g. for swarm + asic data:
      LSB:
    • 150519_rx0.lsb.asic
    • 150519_rx0.lsb.sw1
    • 150519_rx0.lsb.sw2
    • USB:
    • 150519_rx0.usb.asic
    • 150519_rx0.usb.sw1
    • 150519_rx0.usb.sw2

    • which are fully compatible with the latest version of the well tested and stable SMA Miriad software for global distribution - SMA-Miriad 1.5.1
The output files from the pre-processing are packed in two tar-balls for users' downloading, e.g.:

    • 150519_rx0.lsb.tar
    • 150519_rx0.usb.tar
  • MIRIAD DOWNLOAD -
  • CALIBRATION/IMAGING SCRIPTS -
    • Then, experienced users can follow the example scripts (with some minor editing) for further calibrations and imaging in Miriad:
    • SMA-Miriad 1.5.1: Data reduction scripts
