Coronal Observation 6

Purpose: This sequence is used when high time resolution is required. It may be used to observe coronal mass ejections. Repeatedly measures Ly-alpha profile, OVI intensity and visible polarized radiance at three mirror positions. This mode is expected to be used 5% of the time.

Description: Duration 0.5 hour. There will be several versions with different dwell times, each one optimized for a particular target (streamers, quiet corona, coronal holes) and/or set of heights in the corona. The three mirror positions are selectable on command for each version. Cycle 30 times (TBC) through these positions. At each mirror position, measure the resonantly scattered Ly-alpha profile (without dither motion). One minute integrations will provide enough counts to detect 10% changes in the Ly signal, so that even very modest transients will be detectable. The OVI 1032/1037 Å intensities are also measured. Polarized visible radiance is measured at one pixel along the slit for each mirror position.
