The Perils of Low S/N Data:
C17O(1-0) as observed in May 1998,
with the FCRAO 14-m/SEQUOIA system
This web page follows up a discussion of some
preliminary data analysis done by Hector Arce & Alyssa Goodman on 2/10/99.
(Mark Heyer, David Wilner & Javier Ballesteros were also there for part
of the 2/10/99 discussion.)
Notes:
- In color grid maps below, color shows peak temperature (yellow=brightest).
- These line parameters are based on simple Gaussian fits to the isolated
component in the C17O spectrum: hfs has not been done yet.
Edited to only "decent" spectra (S/N >~3)
Gives a map like:
These are just the points with S/N>5 in the integrated
intensity fit.
For comparison, here's the binned IRAM plot:
Now, it's possible that the IRAM and FCRAO plots are consistent--if we
use only the better than 5sigma in Tint/sigTint points.
